Duke blueberry is a heavy, consistent producer of attractive, light blue, deliciously flavored large berries. Blooms late but ripens early, which protects the blossoms from spring frosts. Great for planting with a late season blueberry variety for cross pollination and longer harvest season. Such a heavy producer that branches bursting with fruit may droop to the ground, prompting many gardeners to use a simple trellis as support. This bush tolerates a wide range of soil types and the large, sweet tasting fruit is a favorite for baking. Foliage turns to a striking flame orange fall color to Self fertile but as with all fruiting plants, will produce heavier crops if planted with other blueberry varieties.
