The "Red Heart" Rose of Sharon is a wholly unique and colorful Hibiscus shrub with that lends an unusually exotic and elegant eye appeal to landscapes. Another rare summer-blooming hibiscus, "Red Heart" flowers typically open in Mid-July to reveal huge saucer-shaped flowers measuring 3" to 5" across. The soft white petals sharply contrast to a ruby-red splash in the heart of the flower, thus bringing about its unique name. Highly fragrant blossoms attract butterflies and hummingbirds to their sweet scent, plentiful nectar, and pollen. Although a rapid grower, even as a young plant "Red Heart" puts on numerous fragrant blossoms that naturally grow in an evenly spaced and symmetrical fashion across its branches! These summertime blossoms rival any springtime flowers in both color and pure beauty. In fact like many Rose of Sharon cultivars, "Red Heart" is often labeled as everblooming since the flowers bloom for months at a time, from July until the first frosts occur. In warmer climates, one can enjoy these blossoms well into October!

"Red Heart" Rose of Sharon reaches heights of five to eight feet with a spread of six feet at maturity, but can of course be kept at any size smaller with regular pruning. "Red Heart" is an excellent accent plant that brings depth and color when most flowers have finished for the season. These blossoms may appear delicate, but the truth is, they are anything but fragile! This hardy shrub is highly deer-resistant, heat and drought tolerant, cold-hardy down to -15° F, as well as tolerant of high humidity. This flowering shrub is highly resistant to the spots and mildew which occur on most shrubs in climates with high humidity.

Exotic, large, colorful ruby-red and white everblooming flowers bloom for months at a time, while the plant itself is among the hardiest and most pest-resistant. This is a perfect addition to any landscape in almost any climate!
