The Superior variety is a cross between Japanese and American plums, bringing the best of both worlds to this delicious, cold hardy, easy-to-grow plum tree. An excellent plum tree for northern gardens due to its cold hardiness down to -30° F. An abundant producer of fire-red fruit with sweet, juicy, yellow flesh. Considered a dessert plum, ideal for eating fresh off the tree. Introduced by the legendary program at the University of Minnesota in 1933, the same institution that brought us Honeycrisp apples and Meteor cherries. Fragrant white flowers blanket the limbs in early spring, leading to an abundant crop of delicious bright red plums. A great choice of plum tree for all skill levels.
